“Who?”

In Mexican and Tejano folklore, La Lechuza is a witch who can turn into a giant owl — sometimes with the face of an old woman. She’s said to lure people with the sound of a crying baby or by watching silently outside their homes, then swoop in and take them away. Some say she’s out for revenge, others just call her a warning.
People still believe in her. They still leave salt by the door or tie knots in ropes to keep her away.
So when I photographed an owl for this project, I knew I was stepping into something deeper than just nature or myth — I was touching a story people fear and respect. Owls in this context aren’t just birds — they’re symbols of something we don’t fully understand.
And maybe that’s the point.
